Best Destinations for Women’s Solo Travel in North America

When it comes to going on vacation abroad, many people think they have to travel overseas to a whole different continent. However, there are some awesome places to see right here in North America. In fact, you do not even have to leave your home country to see some beautiful sites or engage in a unique and fascinating culture. So pack your bags, bring your sense of adventure, and let’s check out some awesome places to see right here in North America!

Potential safety concerns

When traveling anywhere, it is always important to take safety into account. Other countries have new laws that you should educate yourself on when you travel there, so you do not accidentally find yourself in legal trouble for doing something that you might take for granted here in the states.

This is especially true if you are a woman or a minority, as some laws in other countries, or even the culture as a whole, can make what may otherwise be a pleasant vacation into an oppressive nightmare.

Another thing that you may have to consider as someone who is vacationing is not letting yourself stand out too much. A lot of people take advantage of tourists, so trying to blend in as much as possible while still enjoying a relaxing and awesome vacation is always a plus.

Bringing a great women’s travel pack

Suitcases are a must when traveling, but one of the things that you should consider is bringing a women’s travel pack. Which you can learn more about from our great Live Once Live Wild blog post on the subject. While it may not seem like a huge change, it can benefit you in more than one way. For instance, it can help prevent purse snatching as your goods are more secure on your back, instead of on a potentially thin purse strap.

This can also help you when you are traveling from place to place, as lugging your luggage from place to place can be very uncomfortable. So, instead of worrying about a suitcase to carry with you, put all of your essentials into a travel backpack, for easy and convenient moving.

Another thing that you should consider when packing is to make sure that you do not pack too much stuff. It is important to remember that you will probably be returning home with more stuff than you are bringing. Also, since you are vacationing, it is best to only bring the necessities, instead of anything that might interfere with your experiences.

Here are some awesome locations to consider

Just because it is still in North America does not mean these places are in any way similar to each other. With so many different paces to choose from, you also get to see some awesome new sites and some amazing cultures that go with it.

Toronto, Canada

Canada is the brother of the USA in more ways than one. A lot of what the Canadians do piggyback off of their brother. However, that does not make Canada any less of a unique and awesome place to visit. Although you should note that since Canada is farther to the north than the US, it is likely to be much colder as a result, so bundle up appropriately.

Canada is full of a large a complex history, and many of their museums and sites encompass that perfectly. For instance, Fort York is a popular tourist attraction and is the most popular site for history buffs. It was established in 1783 and was used all the way up to the end of World War II, so definitely a blast to the past.

And if you want to have a groovy experience, head on down to the Kensington Market. The retro graffiti style and great clothing options will have many people begging to move into the neighborhood.

The sun, the sea, and the warmth, Jamaica is a great place to go if you want to be next to the wind and the waves. Despite the fact that it is so close to the US, Jamaica has a rich culture and some awesome cuisine. For instance, Jerk Chicken and Curry goods are a staple of Jamaican cuisine. Although you may have to be careful, as the food is often seasoned with some really spicy peppers. So it may be best to ask for a more mild option if spicy is not your thing.

The beaches in Jamaica are relaxing and tranquil, which lets you realize exactly why so many people never want to leave this island. For instance, Boston Beach and Seven Mile beach are both really popular attractions for tourists who visit.

Despite what you may think about Greenland, it is mainly covered in ice. Take that for a bit of irony. Yet despite all that, you can still have a grand time and eat a lot of great food. For instance, one of the most popular things to do is Kayaking. So if you enjoy adventure and thrills, then consider going Kayaking across one of this many rivers.

One thing that you should be aware of, is that it is very fridged and cold here, so do bundle up for the weather. However, depending on the time of year, you may be able to see the Aurora Borialis up close and personal. This beautiful cosmic weather can help you find a very spiritual place. Greenland’s trails are also great for hiking, which makes it even more essential to bring that travel pack.

The Bahamas

When it comes to going on a calm and relaxing vacation, there is nothing better that comes to mind than the Bahamas. The warmth and the beaches will make just about anyone want to miss their flight back home. If you want to see the history of the place, I highly recommend going down to Fort Fincastle, which was built in 1793 and was once a lighthouse.

Although, the best thing that you will want to do while you are here is to visit the Paradise Island Water Park. This huge water park is full of fun and adventure at every corner.

Portland, Oregan (United States)

Just because it is still inside the US borders does not make this any less of a great place to visit. Portland is a very progressive, yet very odd place. So much so that the slogan for the city is “Keep Portland weird,” and a comedy show titled Portlandia is set around these oddities.

However, being odd does not mean that it does not have anything to offer. For instance, there are a ton of museums, gardens, and nature reserves to look at, such as the Lan Su Chinese Garden and the Oregon Museum Of Science And Industry. So if you want to visit a place that has a ton of oddities, while also being tranquil and relaxing, then this is the place for you.

Have A Blast

When you are going on vacation, try to have as many great experiences as you possibly can. Try not to distract yourself too much with things in your hotel room or work. Since you are going to be spending a great deal of time and money preparing for this vacation, it is best to make it the time of your life.
